Dedicated Long Distance
(Long Distance T-1)
Definition: A
direct connection to a long distance companies central office from
the customer location. The most common connection is a T-1 line which
includes a local loop (24 Voice Channels)

A benefit to dedicated
long distance is, the customer receives a lower long distance rate,
because they lease a dedicated line directly to a long distance company
bypassing the local Phone Company all together. Thus, no fees have
to be paid to a local provider for each call.
Note: A dedicated
line is a leased line from the phone company and has a monthly cost
associated with it. This cost is referred to as a local loop cost
Local Loop definition:
The local loop is the telephone line that runs from the local Telephone
Company or long distance company to the end user's premise. The local
loop can be made fiber, copper or wireless media.
